Singer Kim Jaejoong shared his feelings about his first Asia tour as well as his 10th debut anniversary.
Singer Kim Jaejoong, who just released his first regular album ‘WWW: Who, When, Why’ and who is holding ‘Kim Jae Joong 1st Album Asia Tour Concert’, had a press conference at COEX on the 3rd.
Kim Jaejoong explained his new album’s concept: “For this new album, I myself was involved in the directing with the recording team; before producing, we wanted to create a story with a general theme. The album was named ‘Who, When, Why’ because I think they’re the most basic and primitive words of love. I think if you’re in love, you must have your partner (T/N: the ‘who’) and the most important thing is where and why you fall in love. That’s how the title was decided.”

Regarding the reason why he chose rock genre again, Kim Jaejoong said, “Actually, at first when I said that I would do rock, people around me dissuaded me a lot but there were also many people who recommended me to do it. Although it’s the genre I’ve liked since I was little, I was worried if it would be too forced to attempt it professionally.”
“Then I thought that it wasn’t bad to challenge and attempt a new genre. I had this ambition of making an album which could show more of my own color. This album has a lot of influence from Kim Bada sunbaenim. I really wanted to show my distinctive color in the title track.”
His new album received much attention with the collaborations with singers of various genres like Takuro of Japanese famous band GLAY, Yoon Dohyun, Noel – Lee Sanggon, Ha Dongkyun, Beast – Yong Junhyung…
Kim Jaejoong expressed his gratitude toward these artists, “Takuro went to JYJ’s Tokyo Dome concert before through a friend. He said that after watching the concert, he wanted to write a good song and give it to me as gift. Ha Dongkyun sunbaenim also worried a lot as we collaborated in the pop punk song Luvholic. He said that he had never tried a upbeat song before but it was very great. It made me really happy.”

Kim Jaejoong who will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his debut a month later shared his feelings, “There are things that I attempted and was persistent with. In the past 10 years, I have been trying to challenge myself to achieve many things. Now that the 10th anniversary comes, everything doesn’t become a ‘reset’ but a ‘return’. My goal for now is to set back to level 1 (T/N: aka the beginning) the things which were meant to be grown up, then fulfill everything again. I want to start myself again from level 1.”
“Coming back to the basics carries the meaning of “I have to be humble” but it also has other significations. In this business, there are times where great stimulant is needed. For me, the biggest worry and the hardest time is when I can’t feel the growing pains.” Kim Jaejoong added.
He said, “While coming back to the beginning, establishing new goals and undergoing growing pains, I want to give a sense of satisfaction to many people. Personally I think this new album is a complex album composed of great music. It will be my happiest and proud moment when not only my fans but also the public listen a lot to my album.”
